Dr. Waldo Amadeo DC

Functional Medicine Clinician | Chiropractor | Founder, Heal Thyself Institute​

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Waldo Amadeo has always been fascinated by how the brain and body communicate to create health. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, where his research on the Physiology of Addiction and Proteomics was published in Hormones and Behavior.

Dr. Waldo went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University College of Chiropractic, where he was recognized for his expertise in the learning theory of critical thinking. He also earned certification in the Philosophy, Art, and Science of Sacro Occipital Technique™ (SOT) and served as President of the Sacro Occipital Technic™ Club, demonstrating his early passion for integrative, brain-based care.

Dr. Waldo is a Certified Functional Medicine Clinician through the Kharrazian Institute, where he has trained in advanced methods of identifying and addressing the underlying mechanisms driving chronic illness. His care model blends chiropractic, neurological therapies, and functional medicine to uncover root causes and restore the body’s natural ability to heal.

He works with patients of all ages and has a special passion for helping children, teens, and families find answers when conventional care has fallen short. His approach is both scientific and compassionate, honoring the individuality of every nervous system and each person’s innate capacity for self-healing.

Continuing his postdoctoral education, Dr. Waldo is completing advanced studies in Functional Neurology to deepen his expertise in brain-based care. His mission is to make modern neuroscience accessible, helping patients understand their own nervous systems and feel empowered to take an active role in their healing journey.

Outside the office, Dr. Waldo enjoys learning new things, exploring automotive design, and spending time with his family.

Alyssa Ashby

Functional Nutrition Specialist | Certified Functional Medicine Health Consultant | Health Coach & Patient Care Coordinator | Co-Founder, Heal Thyself Institute

Alyssa Ashby combines compassion, organization, and a deep understanding of human behavior to help patients feel supported from the moment they reach out. As a Functional Nutrition Specialist (ANFLM), Certified Functional Medicine Health Consultant(KI) , Certified Health Coach (IIN), and Patient Care Coordinator, she bridges the gap between in office care and daily life helping individuals and families put healing into practice with confidence.

Alyssa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Science, and her early work in social services and case management laid the foundation for her patient-centered philosophy. She understands the importance of seeing the whole person, their environment, emotions, and stress patterns, not just their symptoms.

Through her training with the Academy of Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine, The Kharrazian Institute ,and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Alyssa has developed a comprehensive approach to wellness that emphasizes education, empowerment, and wrap-around care. Her mission is to help every patient understand how nutrition, movement, environment, and mindset influence nervous system health and how small daily shifts can create lasting change.

At Heal Thyself Institute, Alyssa guides each step of the patient journey, from the first consultation to customized follow-up and at home strategies. Her calm presence and intuitive understanding make her a trusted support for both children and adults navigating the path to wellness.

Outside the office, Alyssa is passionate about family, homeschooling, and creative projects that nurture connection and growth. She believes that healing begins with knowledge, compassion, and the courage to listen to your body’s wisdom.
